One tip here is to launch near the base of the structure and take the drone out 400 feet in each direction, noting a landmark in each direction. Most drone operating apps will show you the distance from the remote control to the drone itself.
Be extra vigilant if the tower or structure has guy wires! They can be quite difficult to see.
